Fundraiser for IPC World Cup Finals 2010 to be held in Aspen

Aspen, Colo. (August 13, 2009) – Modern-day skiing legend and World Cup champion Bode Miller will join National Amputee Golf Association pros and members of the Challenge Aspen Competition Team for the Challenge Aspen Open golf tournament on the links at River Valley Ranch Golf Club on August 20. The event, billed as “the locals’ tournament,” is a fundraiser for the IPC World Cup Finals 2010, to be held in Aspen and hosted and organized by the Challenge Aspen Competition Program.

The course at River Valley Ranch Golf Club features an award-winning design and breathtaking views of Sopris Mountain. Players will enjoy the camaraderie and competition of a "locals' tournament" and will compete for prizes in contests from the serious, such as "longest drive" and "closest to the pin," to the hilarious, such as "best dressed" and "worst team"! The shamble format tournament begins with a shotgun start at 2 p.m. The fun continues off the course with a post party hosted by Destination Holdings Real Estate at the “Barn” with live entertainment by Alpine World Cup skier Bryon Friedman.

Registration for a foursome is at the locals’ price of $800 and includes the tournament and post party. For a premium in support of the Challenge Aspen Competition Program, foursomes will have a chance to experience the extra fun and excitement of having skiing legend Bode Miller play on their team.
