2010 Challenge Aspen Marathon & Half Marathon Team - Scotiabank Toronto Waterfront Marathon, 1/2 Marathon & 5K Event - September 26, 2010
2010 marks the eighth year of the Challenge Aspen marathon team. Coached by our experienced and devoted team member, Austin Weiss, Challenge Aspen has successfully guided runners & walkers over finish lines in Lausanne, Switzerland (2 times); Monte Carlo, Monaco; Maui, Hawaii; Budapest, Hungary; Dublin, Ireland and Washington, D.C.
Our supportive, dedicated team members have included seasoned marathoners, walkers, and wheelers, as well as novices to the sport of running. Team members commit to reaching a set fundraising goal to support the programs of Challenge Aspen. Over the past seven years, this annual fundraising event has netted more than $440,000 for programs for people with disabilities.
NEW THIS YEAR: Challenge Aspen will credit each fundraising participant $100 toward their travel. AND, the 1st three fundraisers to reach their goal will fly to Toronto on us!
The Toronto Waterfront Marathon , 1/2 Marathon and 5K is one of the up-and-coming marathon events. Noted for its fast and scenic course and fanatastic organization, this marathon was voted Canada's #1, big city marathon, according to Get Out There magazine's 2009 Readers' Choice Award in the "Best marathon" category.
We fell in love with this race after our coach, Austin Weiss, met with race director Alan Brookes, at our 2009 Marine Corps Marathon expo. "Toronto is a beautiful and exciting city made up of diverse and colorful neighborhoods and regions, creating a rich mosaic of cultures and lifestyles." We felt this was an amazing race in an amazing destination for our team members at the perfect time of year. Travel dates are September 23-September 27, 2010.
The Challenge Aspen Marathon Team is supported through generous sponsorships from Independence Run and Hike and Jimmy's Restaurant & Bar & KSPN/KNFO Radio.
We hope you and your friends will join us in this challenge to make possibilities for people with disabilities. Please contact Jenni Petersen for any questions or to get signed up for the 2010 Team! (970) 923-0578 x 204 or jenni@challengeaspen.com .
