Exceptional Artists' Studio June 21-25, 2010
Who: Open to participants ages 6 and up with any disability
Where: Anderson Ranch Arts Center, Snowmass Village, CO
Cost: $600
Students will explore the many ways in which a variety of media can be manipulated. The emphasis will be on process over product, with each day dedicated to a different medium. Classes will include hand-building with clay, watercolor painting and tactile collage using mixed media. The goal for each structured exploration is to give students the opportunity to develop critical-thinking skills, take risks and experience success.
Each afternoon, participants will have the opportunity to experience the splendor of the Rocky Mountains through outdoor activities, including horseback riding, whitewater rafting, swimming and more. Lunch is provided each day.
Schedule (subject to change):
Monday: Arrive at Anderson Ranch for registration and art projects in the morning, then lunch and swimming at the Snowmass Recreation Center
Tuesday: Art projects in the morning, then lunch and equine therapy in the afternoon
Wednesday: Art projects in the morning, then lunch and whitewater rafting on the Roaring Fork River
Thursday: Art projects in the morning, then lunch and swimming at the Aspen Recreation Center
Friday: Community art show (open to the public) and celebration picnic
